On 11 November 2023, AWIMA participated in the Paris Peace Forum’s session “A Mine of Sustainable Initiatives for a Just Environmental Transition” on November 11, 2023. This roundtable discussed the mining sector’s role in the green transition, addressing public concerns about pollution, corruption, and human rights violations. Key speakers, including Balbine Pascaline Makani Omgba, President of AWIMA, shared concrete initiatives to ensure responsible mineral extraction that respects community rights and supports environmental goals. This session highlighted collaborative efforts to reconcile mineral demand with sustainable practices.
