The AfricaMaVal consortium convened in Entebbe, Uganda, on June 5-6, 2023, to discuss responsible sourcing of critical raw materials. Attendees included representatives from the Ugandan EU Delegation, the French Embassy, and the Ministry of State for Minerals. The project, encompassing 10 country case studies, focuses on mineral resources, fiscal risks, and ESG objectives. AWIMA is a key consortium partner, spearheading the analysis of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) conditions. Vice President of AWIMA, Zenzi Awases, participated in the meeting. Highlights of the discussions can be viewed in the video below.
A B2B networking platform will launch in November 2023, alongside a list of 100 investment opportunities in Africa’s CRM value chains. The consortium plans roadshows across Africa in 2024 and will reconvene to assess progress, make adjustments, and continue promoting sustainable mineral sourcing and stronger collaboration between Europe and Africa.
